Chris was appointed to assess the sports technical feasibility of Birmingham as a potential Host City for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Over a period of four months in early 2017, he undertook a series of existing venue feasibility assessments, identifying potential locations for the CGF compulsory and optional sports.
In close collaboration with the Birmingham CWG Board and the Origin Sports Team, an efficient masterplan was submitted that required only two new build facilities, with the remaining competition venues in existing locations around the City.
Following Durban’s withdrawal from the 2022 event, an enormous opportunity presented itself to the City and the process of selection of the UK’s bidding City began alongside the Government and CGF evaluation panels.
Chris lead the development of all venue block plans to demonstrate the City’s compliance with the CGF sports technical requirements.
